Hello again, I’m Rodney Reynolds from 3dgameman.com. This next question is, “How do you remove a scratch from an LCD?”
Well, the first thing you need to do is clean the LCD. And to do that, you can refer to my Q and A video number 71 on how to clean an LCD. Once you’ve cleaned the LCD, there are a few tricks to filling that scratch and really that’s all you’re going to do, is to fill and disguise that scratch, so you don’t see it when you turn on the LCD. The first technique is to fill the scratch with Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly, or even baby oil, just use a microfiber cloth, a dry one, and use a little bit and remove any excess.
Also you can use a clean unused pencil eraser that sometimes works, but remember it has to be clean. There cannot be any lead on that pencil eraser, and that normally should be not a hard eraser and not a soft one. Something in the middle, so you don’t want to scratch the screen with that eraser. And also there is the auto rubbing compound, as well as using a clear lacquer technique, but do some research on that one because that one’s a little bit involved, and also there are different kinds of display polishes on the market. There is one call Displex display polish, but if you can’t get that one, you can probably get other display polishes for screens on the market.
Now remember, any of these techniques could void your warranty. So before you try them, keep that in mind. Also, if you’re in an environment where your LCD is prone to getting scratches, just get a screen protector. Hope this answers your question, and keep your questions coming.
