Dr. Travis Stack: This next patient is a movement disorder patient who's been under treatment, but has not been in the office for the past several months and her appliances are out of adjustment. She is removing a magnetic type grace that she wears around here waist, which she feels gives her support.
Notice her complete lose of normal body posture, when she removes it. This woman is a trained athlete in acrobat gymnast and modern dancer. Notice the rigid posture of her right arm, wrist and hand. The movement disorder patient that you first saw that this tape began with is sitting in the right chair, watching all of this on the second patient.
And the second patient notices constant movement of her legs. This person constantly turns to the right. Now what I'm going to do is remove her upper appliance that she is wearing in the roof of her mouth and adjust it and reinsert it. I just remove the appliance and as better she was, when she had the appliance in her mouth. Notice her movements increase. I'm adjusting it with pliers in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
And now go to insert it back in place. Notice how the patient suddenly relaxes and her right arm straightens out. This is the still point that many of these patients go through, when you have the appliances exactly as they should be. On the first patient, we did this with a lower appliance. On the second patient, we did this with an upper appliance.
Notice how well the patient works immediately after getting up out of the chair. Watch this now. Pretty good for movement disorder patient. Take a bow.
