Frankie Dell: Hi, I am Frankie Dell. I am a Tennis Instructor here in Los Angeles. Today, we are going to talk about groundstrokes. We will look at the forehand first. I will show you everything from how to grip the racquet, preparation, the swing and followthrough. And we’ll also look at the backhand. I will show you everything from gripping the racquet, your stances, followthrough and swing. So what you’ll need to play tennis with is of course, first of all, a tennis racquet, some tennis balls, some tennis shoes, short and shirt.
Now make sure you get actual tennis sneakers and not running shoes. Running shoes are meant to move forward and back and tennis is a more lateral sport and tennis shoes are made for moving in that direction. Also, if you’re going to play tennis, I suggest you be in reasonably good shape. It's a demanding sport and finally, use some sunscreen.
Before we get started, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up playing junior tennis in North Carolina, then I played collegiately at Campbell University and then I taught for many years at Midtown Tennis Club in New York City and now I teach privately here in Los Angeles. Alright, let's get started.
