Tequila Cosmopolitan
Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host Derrick Schommer and this week we’re going to do the Cosmopolitan but, we’re going to Tequila it up so it’s going to be what we’re going to call the Tequila Cosmopolitan. This is a recipe that the folks that El Diamante del Cielo Tequila had suggested. They call that the Cosmopolitan. We’re going to just tack Tequila on there because you might use the vodka in your cosmos not as interesting, this stuff is awesome so well talk about that later.
What we’re going to have is we’re going to do a little Gran Marnier, a little tequila, maybe a little extra tequila. We’re going to use cranberry juice, this is what usually makes it Cosmo, a Cosmo and it’s kind of like a New England deal or New England Spirit if you will.
So it’s kind of neat, we’re also going to use one ounce of lime which is, here’s half ounce, and here’s your half ounce so we’re good with that. We’re going to squeeze it with a little ten king squeezes that we got. Shake it all up, we’re good to go. Also you might be wondering why it goes crack on my table.
So, we got sponsorship that’s awesome, that means we’re going to be a little cool things like contest, I get t-shirts. Hopefully we’ll be able to give some of those out in the future. One of our sponsors is the Averna Amaro. So, if you’ve never had Amaro, it’s like a bitter after dinner digestive or digestivo, depending on the country you want it come from. It’s a – I kind of liking it to be like a jager not as herbal but, they’re a little more alcohol tasting. It’s got like crazy stuff like roots and barks and very organic herbs, spices but, definitely its something you want to check out, it’s the Averna Amaro.
They’ll be with us for the next couple episodes so that’s cool, and then we’re also got AwesomeDrinks.com who will help to supply ourselves with this cool glasses here. These are awesome glasses, this is a rocks glass. It’s smaller than what we’ve been using, heavier, awesome quality. This is cool, I’m going to call it the Tiki God head. I don’t know if its got a better name in that but that’s a Tiki God head. That’s going to be our next episode. We’re going to do the zombie, it’s crazy and of course we got our Martini glass which we’re going to need our cocktail glass if your will.
We’re going to use that this episode. You’ve seen this guys in the show. Now I picked these guys, these are hand picked sponsors if you will because I wouldn’t suggest it if I didn’t already like them and use them and you’ve seen these glasses on the show. So we picked them up should be a good marriage. So let’s get started, what we’re going to do is shake up some tequila. This is a cielo tequila. If you like to sip Blanco white silver tequila or you like why would you sip that. This stuff is sippable. Check out everydaydrinkers.com for where we actually went through the review and unbelievably smooth and sweet all the way down , it’s awesome. It’s kind of get a caramel flavor to it and is not age so I don’t know how they really do it but I don’t make tequila I just drink it. Save that for somebody else.
So, stick that there. So what we’re going to do one and a half ounces of the tequila, we’re going to do a half ounce of Gran Marnier. Now, I use this in if you go back in or search everydaydrinkers.tv for the perfect margarita. These are two of my main ingredients Gran Marnier and tequila high a 100 proof, 100% agave tequilas which is what we have here.
So you’re already kind of going to the Margarita but, we’re going to change it up by doing the cranberry juice and of course you can’t have a good tequila without a little lime that’s really fighting me and here we go and that should do—so there’s a little lime and we’re going to throw in one half ounce of cranberry juice. So it’s not really bright red like the cranberry juice because its so little used but that’s okay. It’s just there for flavor for color.
Here we go shake this up in a minute.
Now here’s a cocktail so you can if you wish, garnish it with in this case I’m going to go with a lemon, like a lemon wheel on the side. We don’t have a lemon wheel right now but, if you drop on the side it might be kind of cool. Always got a peach color to it, it’s kind of cool having a peach color and you don’t really smell too much cranberry juice which is good because there’s not much in there and very tequilaesk.
However, the trick with the Cielo Tequila is it doesn’t have any burn. I don’t know its magic. So what you’re getting is your getting the tequila the real tequila taste without the tequila sour after taste style that like you if you want it way of trying them as you take a little of this just a small sip, try it get some Patron and try it. You’re going to tell the complete difference. Patron is a rubbery burnt tire after taste. This has it’s just clean and smooth so in this the whole drink becomes clean and smooth.
So, highly suggested not too sour that you could taste the lime but, its not sour because maybe the limes really fresh the cranberry juice should be sour but it’s the juice style so I’m sure there’s a lot of sugars in here, 45 grams carbs and we won’t think about that. Only half ounce also, there you go that’s the Tequila Cosmopolitan and we take one more sip because that’s the sexy looking. Definitely a good refreshing cocktail.
Check this out on everydaydrinkers.tv and you could also check some in iTunes just search for everyday drinkers, search for common man Cocktails. I also encourage you to check out awesomedrinks.com. This is cool, this is the high ball glass, it is smaller than what we’ve been using on the show. So what I found you going to get out of this is you could feel the drink a little less and you can get your garnishes to kind of flow out of the top so your mint will flow out the top and the cherries can float on top and a little umbrella on there whatever you want to do.
Just trick it out and show your party friends and again check out if you ever had an Amaro try Averna Amaro. It’s a great little after dinner drink. I’m your host Derrick Schommer and we’re teaching you how to drink.
