Hi, I’m Joe Wise, owner of Buildwise Construction in Orlando, Florida. Today, we’re going over how to install a garbage disposal. We’re about done with this, so I got it all the waste product, all the waste pipes to replace and put in. Now, we’re going to test and see if anything is leaking.
We’re just going to turn on the water here and let it drain. It’s fine and sometimes this helps, we just put the strainer in here. Click a little water first and then let the water rush out all at one time. That will help to see if it’s going to leak. So, we let that collect a little water, pull it and then we’ll look underneath and see if it’s leaking. I don’t see any leaks. Put it over on the good garbage disposal side and feel the pipe, feel it underneath the water connections and I feel no leaks. That’s a good sign. We’ve already turn the breaker box back on. So now, we’re going to just slip the switch on the garbage disposal and see if it works.
Now that’s what a new garbage disposal is supposed to sound like. We’ll check it again while it’s running there. Make sure it’s not leaking anywhere, vibrate any water out, I don’t see any leaks, hands are dry. Turn the garbage disposal off, turn the water off, closer up and we’re done.
Hopefully we’ve showed you how to do this properly and something will give you a lot of help in the future. Until next time, we’ll see you.
