Part two of the Thai Massage Video for the bedroom shows you techniques for the side lying position.

Keep the bottom leg straight and the top leg bent with the foot hooked behind the knee. If the person is not very flexible, you might want to put a pillow under the knee for extra support. The hand on the side of the hip keeps you from rolling forward. Start with compression down the side line of the leg, starting from the bone that is sticking out the side of the hip called – contour all the way down to the ankles. Because you can be quite strenuous on the back, I will give you two options on how to make it easier for yourself. First option is to put your knee on the bed. The second one is to anchor your leg in front of the hip. For the kind of bed we have, this option works best. It shifts my body weight forward and makes it very easy to work at the sides. It also helps to keep the hips stable.

After you are done with the side line of the leg, apply compression away from the – contour. Use both hands for this technique at the same time. Again, you can either have your knee on the bed or your leg placed in front of the hip. Then have your partner turn over to the other side, hook the foot again behind the knee. Place your knee on the bed and start with the line down the leg. Again, work from light to moderate pressure. I personally prefer to put my foot under the hip and my shin against the partner’s hip. This keeps the hip in place and gives me a better position. Then apply compression away from the – contour again. Of course you could do this technique also with your knee on the bed.
