How to make organic coconut milk
Sa Wad Dee ka. My name is Aunchalee. Today I’m going to teach how to make your own organic coconut milk from real coconuts. This is a traditional way how to make a coconut milk. My mom taught me how to do this when I was little. It’s not hard to do but it’s homemade and has no chemical in it.
Let’s get started. And these are the ingredients that you’re going to need to make organic coconut milk: one coconut, four cups of warm water, three bowls, strainer, food processor and a big heavy knife.
First thing you need to do is to crack coconut. You’re going to need a large bowl and a big heavy knife. Hold the coconut in your hand tightly and use the back of the big heavy to knife and hit in the middle of the coconut as hard as you can.
This is the traditional way how to thread a coconut. We use this machine called “katay kut ma prawd. It readily mean rapid threading coconut is a lot of work, but I’m going to tell you how to do it.
But this way is much easier. We’re going to need a food processor. But now we need to crack this coconut into small pieces. Then you need to pry out the meat with a small knife. Then put the coconut meat into the food processor. And thread it.
That was a lot easier. Next thing we’re going to do add two cups of water into the coconut. And knead it all together to squeeze the coconut mild out of the coconut meat. Form the coconut into a ball and squeeze out over the strainer. When you squeeze the water out of the coconut, add two more cups of water. And do it again.
Each coconut should give you about four cups of coconut milk. You should use this coconut milk fresh. It doesn’t keep well in the refrigerator.
That’s it. Now you can use this coconut milk to cook in your recipe like coconut chicken soup, or Korean curry chicken.
Thank you for watching.
