Thai Foodcast: Pork Ball Soup
My name is Aunchalee welcome to Thai Foodcast today we’re going to make Ground Pork Ball Soup or Gaeng Jued. Most Thai food has many flavor in one dish and most of the dishes has a really strong taste, today we’re going to make something a little more delicate Gaeng Jued literally means no taste but don’t worry it’s actually very delicious.
My mom taught me this recipe and have been eating it since I was a kid even Thai people could tie up spicy food all the time, and this is what we make when we need a break from all the chili, this is also the first soup that I learned how to make because it’s so simple, let’s get started.
These are the ingredients that you’re going to need to make ground pork ball soup half pound of ground pork 2 cups of shredded cabbage 1 cup of mushroom ½ cup of bean sprout 1 cup of celery 1 carrot 7 cup of water 1 teaspoon of black pepper 1 chicken bullion cube 3 tablespoon of soy sauce 2 green onions.
First we’re going to make a pork ball, bay adding the ground pork into the bowl and then pepper, soy sauce, oh but you only use the half of the soy sauce which is 1 and ½ tablespoon and save the other half later. Now you need to mix all ingredients together until it mix well think you mix about 1 or 2 minutes or so until you feel the meat is a little sticky so you can form the ball easier.
Now scoop the meat about small ball and put in your pan and kinda roll it like that, so form a ball about 1 inch around. You should have about 30 meatballs next chop the carrot then chop the celery next chop the mushrooms next chop the green onion.
Now it’s time to cook, we’re going to need a pot and then add water to the pot, turn on the stove to a high heat now add the chicken bullion cube and let it boil. When it’s boiling add Pork Ball. Now let it boil for 2 minutes to cook the meat, next add the carrot and then add celery now add mushroom and stir it all together leave it for about 2 minutes.
When the mushroom is cooked reduce the heat to medium, now add the bean sprout now add the cabbage let it simmer for about 1 minute now ad the rest of the soy sauce which is about 1 and ½ tablespoon, and stir it all together and the last thing add the green onions and that’s it now it’s done.
Gaeng Jued is a great dish for eating in a cold day and along side spicy dishes to clear your Palate, I hope you enjoyed your No Taste Soup. Thank you for watching Thai Foodcast. If you want some more information about this or other easy Thai food recipe visit my website at Thaifoodcast.com.
