Sudika, my name is Angel Lee welcome to Thaifood cast. today we are going to make Krapao Gai or Thai basil chicken. Krapao Gai is very common in Thailand, you can find it on the street vendors, small restaurant, big restaurant, everywhere. It is very good and the best part is very easy too. This will only take 15 minutes to make. Let us get started.
This will not take a lot to make a Krapao Gai, you only need this ingredients.
Half cup of basil, two cloves of garlic, fresh chili peppers, half an onion, two-table spoon of vegetable oil, one third cup of water, one chicken breast,
Rice and oyster sauce. You may need to go to Asian food store to get it, and this brand that I use [Muffled] which mean woman tough and you can see a picture on the front. This is just soy sauce, you can pick it up anywhere, the brand I use called [Muffled] but any brand will do.
This is black soy sauce, different in other glass soy sauce because it taste sweet and they give a dark color to the food, you probably need to go to Asian food store to get it, the brand that I use is called dragon fly and you can see the picture in front of the bottle.
First thing you need to do is cook your rice, next, chop the garlic and do not cut your finger, next slice an onion, I like my kind of thin, next, chop up the chili, Thai people would like it very spicy so I put it lot, you might want to start with one or two. Then cut chicken into quarter inch slices. Krapao Gai is very easy, you just need your pan and turn on your stove to the medium heat.
First, heat up two table spoon of cooking oil, next, add the garlic, once the garlic is done, add the chicken, now, add four tablespoon of oyster sauce, next, two tablespoon of soy sauce, next one teaspoon of black soy sauce then add the onion, stir it all together.
Now add a bit cup of water, the last thing you do is add chili and basil and then stir it all together. Just a couple of time and then you are done.
Serve all rice and garnish with fresh basil. See, it is very easy and it only takes 15 minutes to make, now is my favorite part, it is time to eat.
