The 2009 Audi A3 and S3 Hatchbacks Overview

The face lift of the Audi A3 dynamics great design as well as safety and comfort combined in compact car to enthuse just about anyone. The car from Ingolstadt having mainly received a cosmetic make over will be launched this summer with 8 different engines ranging from 102 Horsepower in the smallest gasoline powered version to a whopping 265 horses in the S model. For the first time as an S version the 5 door hatch called the Sportback. The restyled front with a larger single framed grille, the modified engine hood and the new lights remind us even more of the A4 series with the optional Bixenon lights LED day time running lights come into also additionally underlining that mean look. Blinking indicator lights are now on the exterior mirrors and even the door handles have been redone. The striking lines give the A and the S3 a sporty and dynamic look an indication of their great performance. To round off the picture the tail end of the A3 was redesigned, here we find both new lights and a new bumper. New for the A3 is an optional item at cost for 790 Euros is a park assistant which uses ultra sound sensors to measure a parking space and automatically maneuver the car into it. For safety reasons the driver still has to depress the gas pedal and the brake. In the S-version, it's pure power added to the A3, the 4 cylinder turbo charged TFSI with direct fuel injection accelerates from 0-100 in 5.7 seconds, giving you impressive driving qualities and a fuel economy that car maker claims to be 8.5 liters per 100 kilometers. Sport seats automatic climatic control and Bixenon head lights all come standard. The use of a loads of chrome make it clear that the S3 is intended for a higher class of buyers, also clear from the price. Pricing for the S3 Sportback starts at 37, 50 Euros. The list of options available is long as usual for the first time Audi offers its magnetic ride shock absorber control at the press of a button, you can select between the sporty or comfortable chassis setting. Whether the big success of the A3 series can continue remains to be seen, things are looking pretty good though already.
