Host: Less is more. VW has consistently applied this philosophy
quite unusual for a new car on the new Touareg. While most
cars weigh more than the former model, the new Touareg is
200 kilos lighter and that is not all since the engines are also
built for lower fuel consumption.
Right now, customers can choose either a 260 horsepower V6
TDI or a 340 horsepower, 4.2-liter V8 TDI. Both consume less
than their predecessors. The V6 making to with 7.4 liters, the
V8 with 9.1 liters.
Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: As is appropriate for an SUV, we have tested the car on all
important points whether in the desert in Africa, in the
Kalahari, or the icy regions up in Scandinavia. Wherever
demands are particularly great, we have been there with the car
and we have put it to the test and the Touareg has passed all
tests with flying colors.
