Of course when you are scrapbooking, you are going to need a good adhesive. Something to look for is a product that says acid free. The reason you want your adhesive to be acid free is that overtime the acid in products will cause your photos to turn yellow and deteriorate. So, in order to protect your precious memories you want to make sure that whatever you use is acid free. A good thing to use on photos and paper is a double sided tape. Something like this is easy to apply and it is quick and it is very clean to use. If you are going to be working with some more advanced embellishments like ribbons, metals and chipboard, you are going to want a product like the glue dots which are small self-adhesive dots that have a very high tack to them. They are very strong. I usually do not recommend that for photos or paper because of that. If we are going to be working with really thin strips of paper or lettering, then a glue pen is also a very handy thing to have.

Another very important tool to have is a paper trimmer. The reason for this is that it will always help you get a straight cut all of the time. Of course like anything, there is a big variety of choice. So, to help you pick what is best for you, I will give you a little description of each item. This is probably one of the most inexpensive trimmers on the market. It usually runs for about $13.00 and it is made complete out of plastic. The blade simply sits in the track and you put your piece of paper, and you put across, and you cut. It is a very good trimmer for people who are starting out or for children if you are not sure if this is hobby that they are going to be sticking with. For just a few dollars more, you can have a trimmer by an aluminum company, Fiskars. The difference between this trimmer and this trimmer is that the way that the blade sits in the track here. It is on a triple track meaning that the blade is sitting in three different places so you have less chance of the blade wobbling. This one as well by Fiskars; it usually runs for about $30-$35.00. As you can see, it is constructed a little bit differently that this one. The same idea with the blade; where it sits in the track in three different places. And then the top of the line trimmer is this one by Making Memories. It usually runs for about $60-$65.00. The idea behind this trimmer is that it is self sharpening. So, you will never need to replace the blade which is an investment you have to think about with all the other trimmers. Unfortunately, it is also a little bit larger. So, lugging it around could be a problem for most people.

These are few other items that you would probably like to have handy just in case which most people have at home; a pencil, a ruler and a sgood pair of sharp scissors.
