The Basics of Throwing a Rise Ball

Keep your body mechanics very simple for the rise ball. I teach a very long stride on the fast ball so my stride on the rise ball is the same if you do not have a long stride on your fast ball then you are indeed going to lengthen the stride on the rise.

A lengthened stride can get our release point low so we may bring the ball up. We do sink down slightly into the back leg, putting a lot of weight on the that back leg and that also lowers our release point.

Hips must remain open at release on this pitch. We must have reverse posture which is leaning back, must have good resistance with the front leg pushing back and it's land, resists, whip, creating back spin, resist whip is very key on this pitch. After that I like to kick and fall straight back. Resist, whip, kick, fall straight back. Follow throw is enclosed to the body not too tight because we do not want to over do the elbow bend and it's in line with my target.
