The Benefits of Eating Protein

Anne Diamond: What about eating lots of protein? Doesn't that boost metabolism? Well, eating more protein will not necessarily result in muscle growth. Your body can only use a certain amount of protein each day, after that your body will store the excess as fat. Consuming 1-2 grams of protein per kilogram body weight a day is sufficient protein for muscle growth and tissue repair.

So eat lean proteins like eggs, lean beef, chicken and fish and combine them with colorful carbohydrates like antioxidant rich fruits and veggies that are high in natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. Research shows that getting plenty of protein can boost your metabolism causing it to burn an extra 150-200 calories a day. That's because protein is made up mainly of amino acids, which are hard for your body to break down than fats and carbs. So you burn more calories, getting rid of them.
