The Botox Cosmetic Treatment
Veronica: It’s quick, easy, and painless for most. Hi, I’m Veronica with watchmojo.com and today we’re taking a look at how botox is injected into the muscles for youthful and refreshed finish.
Dr. Manish Khanna: Before we start the injection, we’re just going to clean the area of any surface bacteria. And we’ll be doing two injection patterns today. We’ll be injecting the glabella. So, I’m just going to ask the patient to frown. As she frowns, she’s developing these vertical lines, down lines.
The other thing we’ll be doing is an injection of a muscle just at the end of the eyebrow here. It will allow the eyebrow to lift a little bit. And that’s often a desirable feature in the women to have the outside part of their eyebrow slightly arched.
We’ll inject the botox round and relax, just at the top of the nose, Something is a little bleeding on the—just sort of cleanse the area. Start with the second injection now, frown, and relax. We’ll do the same thing on the other side.
So you can see the muscle actually extends all the way along the eyebrow. So, it doesn’t just take one injection. We have to inject at the few points in that muscle. We’ll be doing that now.
So, the last part of the injection now is going to do the brow lift. So here, I ask the patient to forcibly close the eyes and like the innocence of where that muscle is, that’s puling down the eyebrow, and we got a needle. So, by relaxing the muscle that pulls down the brow allows the muscles that pull the brow up to act on their own to get that sort of if you win the tag of war.
We’ll do the same thing on the other side. So what we normally tell the patients after the injection is to avoid exercise, the day of the injection, and then to contract the muscles that we’ve injected. The botox tends to get taken up into the muscles more readily if you use the muscle so every 10 minutes or so for the following hour after the injection if they do 16 repetitions of muscles every injection that tends to be a little bit better. Great, we’re done.
