I am a confused cello student of just 2 years, being taught by a violin teacher who also plays a bit of cello. I never had the bow hold knowledge to start out with that you have so adequately explained in this video. About 6 months ago, she had me switch to the Russian bow hold, and I have to confess, it allows a lot more pressure on the strings with no extra exertion. However, now I am worried that something else will suffer. Please let me know your thoughts on the Russian bow hold.
