My name is Roger Bennett Riggle and today we are demonstrating Advanced Jazz Dancing. To demonstrate these moves is one of my advanced students here at the Berrend Dance Center Mackenzie Royce (ph).
Now we are going to demonstrate for you how to Chinez turns. Chinez turns though can be done in a variety of ways and this is the way we have decided to choreograph this segment. Let's start with the arms. Mackenzie is going to show you the arms in second position first. So we will start the Chinez turn with second and as we turn, we will go to first. That's what the arms closed and almost like an egg shape I call it. Then as we go into our second Chinez turn, we are going back to second position arms which is an open position and then as we turn, we are going into high fouette, that's kind of an egg shape arm movement with the hands over the head.
So again, as we do the two turns we are going to go second, first and second, high fouette. One more time, second, first position and second high fouette. Now let's go into the turn. Mackenzie is standing in fouette position and for this turn and remember I told you jazz is very folksy and down to earth. I like this jazz turn to be into the earth. So we are going to slide the leg into second position in deep plie, plie meaning the legs are bent. Then we are going to take the left foot and cross it over the right and releve and we are going to turn and again, we are going to slide into second deep plie position and bring the left foot over the right and turn once again in releve, meaning up on your toes. So again the Chinez turn is done in. Second, close the arms in first and second and high fouette.
Next we will be demonstrating for you how to Pirouette.
