Other than a Houston family, the Coppolas are the only other family that; a) has three different generations in show business and they have three different members who have won an Oscar.
Who’s the third member you're asking yourself? Well, it’s Nicolas Cage. Yes, Nicolas Cage is a Coppola. His real name is Nicolas Kim Coppola, didn’t make that up. I couldn’t if I tried. Nicolas cage is the son of Francis Ford Coppola’s brother August, who is a teacher of Comparative Literature.
Now, Nicolas Cage is interesting for few a reasons. He changed his name to Cage because he didn’t want to be in his uncle’s shadow and he wanted to really make his own mark. But if you look at for example, Fast Times at Ridgemont High which was one of his first roles, he's still credited as the Nicolas Coppola. He had a long standing relationship with Patricia Arquette which didn’t produce any children. One with Lisa Marie Presley which did not produced any children. Those two are his wives.
He also had a relationship with Christina Fulton. She was not his wife but they had a child together named Weston and then of course his most recent union which is to very, very, very young Alice Kim and they had a child together. I didn’t make this up but the child’s name is Kal-El, his named after Superman. That’s Superman’s real name. This child’s name is Kal-El Coppola Cage.
And actually we just find out that a brand new Coppola is on the way because Sofia just announced that she is expecting a child. Sofia has been of -- what -- have a widely publicized relationship with the Director Spike Jones around the time her win for Lost in Translation and then she very quickly after the break up jump in to that of Clinton Tarantino and when that broke up.
She ended up dating a guy named Thomas Mars who’s the front man for a band named Phoenix, it’s a French band and they are now expecting their first child together who is yet to be born but he will be the next generation from the Coppola family.
