Let’s look now at another very simple self defense technique. This is the cupped hand strike; you literally cup the hand, fingers squeezed tight together, thumb out of the way here squeezed in and you are creating an air trap here for when you strike ideally your attackers ear, okay. It's very painful if it misses the ear and strikes the head or face, but ideally you looking to get that air trap into the air canal.
We look at it from a long-range here, okay; it is a long-range strike, at arms length, okay, we are driving through. The whole body must be behind the strike, okay, in creating that air trap as you strike and drive through with the body motion and again, a very powerful stroke, okay.
Now if you look at it as a street application here, it is a long-range strike, as I say, if Adam just grabbed Sharon there okay. She can drive through and there is an obvious release there, okay, and again just driving through and she is away as soon as she can. The cupped hand strike, okay, very powerful, long-range, easy strike.
