Hello, I am Carla Shaper Auntie’s Bead designer and today we are going to be making the bling bling ring.
The tools needed for this project are as follows, we need a metal ring mandrill, a rohad hammer, chain nose piers, round nose pliers, a nipper tool and an 18 millimeter swarovski, round roundel and we are using the artistic wire, 20 gauge, non tarnished silver.
First of all and what you need to do is pull a yard of the wire off the spool and secure the ring mandrill and remember, on a ring mandrill, if you are going to make a ring, you are going to make it a size larger than what you want it to be. So if I want to make a 7 ring, I am going to go down to the size 8 notch.
And what we are going to do first is we are going to take the wire and center it around the ring mandrill and I am going to wrap it. Say four, make it about 4 to 5 wraps around it and you are going to bring it back to the front like that.
And that is all you need to do. After you have wrapped the wire around the mandrill, pinch the wire in the middle and roundel on both of the wires down to the mandrill.
I kind of press it down into there, and then we are going to slide the ring up the mandrill. Next thing to do is to take the wire and bend it over with your thumb at a round angle on top of the bead and then you are going to press down with your thumb and rotate the ring in the wire for you to get a coil on top. And keep doing this until you get the desired coil, like that.
I am going to drop one side of my wire down here, I am going to coil the other one around and drop it here. This is what your ring will look like. You have the coil on top and the strand of wire on either side. Next thing you do is take one sides and start to bring through the ring and this is how we are going to wrap it/
This time you may want to use your chain nose pliers to tighten that.
Do about 3 to 4 wraps and then you would do the other side.
Do not worry about distorting the ring, this will put back on the mandrill to shape it.
And then, we will trim the wire, excess wire with the nipper tool. I will took our tails down with the chain nose pliers. Like that, we are going to slip it back in the ring mandrill, straighten it out and if you remember, I did this as wrapped it the size 8 so that it will become a size 7. As you can see now, it is a size 7 and this is just we are going to shape in the ring and if you tap it with your rohad hammer, it also strengthens the wire and if the size is a little off, you can also change the size bigger.
And now you have your bling bling ring.
