I'm a piercer gold is not choice for an initial piercing,stainless comes in various grades, we wear nitril gloves not latex and mucous membranes are less likely to get infections and if a navel piercing takes 10 years to reject it was likely torn shortly before it migrated out. Most people,(and many piercers included) a lot of times tend to fall short on understanding the facts and just unquestionably go along with little soundbytes which the party line is telling them without properly researching the facts.

i have to say you should do your research on the art of body modification before you go out giving advice to the public. i realize this is a free country but telling people that they can get hep and tetnis is completely out of line. dont go outside of profeshional piercing studio but also realize just because you had one bad expierience does not mean you need to or have the right to explains something you know nothing about...

You have no clue what you are talking about. Do some research before posting a video like this because you sound like an idiot. I am 15 years old and I have 11 piercings. No infections yet. My Mom is 32 and she has 29 piercings. She hasn't had any infections either!

I really think this video should be pulled. Just because you had a poorly done navel piercing that migrated, does not mean this is the norm. Some of the infectious examples you used, happen more frequently by cutting your finger in the kitchen. For those of you thinking about getting a piercing, talk to a professional piercer, and not someone who qualifies in the IDKJS catagory like the person who posted this video.

Hmm... gold isn't a suitable for a fresh piercing maybe you should do you research. stainless steel or titanium only. & your belly button it prone to rejection just from simple tasks that stretch the skin like reaching above your head or even crouching. your only prone to diseases if you come into direct contact like your piercing touching someones fresh wound that have that.

Holes are getting larger; earrings are being put into all sorts of bizarre places on your body. So, before you decide to go out and get your neck pierced, you might want to listen to some of these tips. Piercing can lead to infections, such as Hepatitis B, and C, or Tetanus. So, before you go out to get a piercing, make sure that you talk to a professional and also, make sure that you pick a piece that is made out of stainless steel of gold. The more exabot of the piercing, the more risk for infection. So, if you are planning on getting a piercing anywhere close to a mucous membrane, you better watch out. Get to know your piercer, make sure that they are wearing latex gloves and that they sterilized all of their equipment. You should go through a step by step process with your piercer about the different ways that your wound would be healing, because remember, that what it is, an open wound. Discuss in detail on how to take care of your piercing. How to clean it and how to monitor for infection and allergies?
