Place de l’Alma is another spot that may not immediately ring bells of recognition, but as soon as you have the date Sunday the 31st of August 1997 I mention a speeding Mercedes, most people on the whole planet will instantly be transported back to where they work and what they were doing when they heard the news that Princess Diana has been killed. Just after midnight on that date the car in which she was traveling—tunnel of Pont de l'Alma, a bridge across the river. Also killed were her lover Dodi Al-Fayed and the French driver on report. The princess’s bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones survived but with serious facial injuries and little recollection of what had happened.

The public outpouring of grief and disbelief was unprecedented for one that they’ve seen was that the event might cause the problem at the British monarchy when the whole family’s reaction to Diana’s death that they are strictly—didn’t tie in with the popular mood.
