My name is Bridgette. I’m with the Washington Humane Society here in Washington DC
and today I am talking to you about how to adopt a perfect cat for you and your family.
And right now we’re going to go into what to actually look for when you are adopting
your cat.
Is there a difference in short or long hair cats?
A lot of people do enter into the idea of adopting an animal with a vision of the kind of
cat that they think that they want. It’s important to remember that of course cats require
some specific care and long hair cats do particularly require more grooming attention so
as you are moving forward with the adoption process, keep in mind that if you are
interested in a long haired cat that does mean more regular brushing, some regular
combing. It may even mean some grooming at a professional groomer so that would be a
financial commitment. So it is again an important factor to consider when you are
looking at your potential cat, whether or not you’re able to and willing to commit to the
care that a long hair cat may mean over a short hair cat.
