How should society care for the elderly?
Well, we are not well prepared. Number one baby boomers in particular are very poor to prepare. They have only about $40,000.00 in their 401K. They are going to have to work longer; there is no escape in it. Otherwise they are not going to have a full stomach at night. The society as a whole is not prepared. We do not have doctors well prepared to take care of old people. No one is really facing in solving social security. The health care system is still an awful mess, and confused, and fragmented with reimbursement incentives. We do not have an adequate hospital system that is safe, people get sick, and mistakes get made everyday in American hospitals. So, we have a lot to do and we are not well prepared for the baby boomers that baby boomers are not well prepared for their own.

How do we fix it?
Well, I have the controversial view. It would be nice to end the private health insurance system and to have more of the European-type systems, because they are always spent 10% of their GDP on heath care. We spent 16% and out of every dollar we pay for health, we are actually paying about 20% for claims adjustment, for profit, for marketing, for selling. Not for the actual delivery of health care. So, we have got a real job to do and to patching up these health care systems.
