Chantria Tram: Welcome to watchmojo.com. My name is Chantria Tram and today I'll be speaking with DÔ, a gypsy dancer who would be taking us from India to Russia and demonstrate the evolution of this beautiful art form. DÔ could you tell us a little bit about what you're wearing right now?
Dominique Favreau (DÔ): I'm wearing an Indian type costume with large pants and what I wear in the feet are some small bells that make noise when the feet go on the floor.
Chantria Tram: Is India the origin of gypsy dancing?
Dominique Favreau (DÔ): Yes! Gypsies are coming from India. Their original name is roaming people and they are all coming from India a long time ago. There were many tribes coming from Rajasthan and Punjab in the northern India. So, from the origin the dance was very, very joyful and innocent and very spiritual.

Chantria Tram: So, DÔ where are you taking us now?
Dominique Favreau (DÔ): Now, we are going to middle-east countries where the ballidie is coming from. Ballidie was very transformed when the dancing people came to Egypt and they want to have some shows with those extraordinary dancers. The costume changed with this aspect of more sexual appeal and seduction. But this dance at the origin was women exercising their bodies for maternity, for femininity, for good health or relating to their bodies and the elements of life.

Chantria Tram: I really love what you're wearing. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
Dominique Favreau (DÔ): Black and red colors. These are colors of passion. In the Spanish type of gypsy dance from Andalusia, we go through these elements of fire and passion. We find in the flamingo, the Indian origin. We defeat with all the character. You have to go in your own source inside of your end, be in contact with your own power.

Chantria Tram: So, where's our last stop with you today?
Dominique Favreau (DÔ): Now we're going to Europe, in Russia, in Romania. In this kind of dance, we develop the aspects of air. So it's expansion, it's freedom. It's going from the center to outside. You're looking for your power to occupy your whole space, yourself, the real self.
