"When the little nine-year-old gelding of mixed breeding, Janosch, came to me two years ago, he was like an autistic child. He absolutely refused to have any contact with human beings."
A small child who at the age of two or three scribbles all over paper, does this with incredible patience and with incredible stamina and concentration. He does it, I think, because he discovers himself again and what he is doing. Because this line and this scribbling exist because the child himself exist. I am, and therefore what I have done exist. When I have done exists, and therefore I am.
If I now succeed in finding not only this relation, this creativity in drawings, and creative expressions which express themselves materially and some object but rather if I succeed in doing that together with another living creature, with the living creature that reflects my personal expression, always reflects something back.
I discover myself again in the actions and in the gestures and in the all of the possibilities of expression of another living creature. I think then, in my opinion, one has come a long way along the path of looking for nature, for the origins, for the real, genuine origins, and also a bit further in finding oneself. And of course, finally, I think you have come a little further along the way toward the kind of happiness on horse back, which is still many people wish to experience.
