The Fattiest Foods in the United States

Audra Lowe: Welcome back everybody and some of our favorite foods are under fire, get ready for what you're about to hear because I'm a little depressed about it, health.com named the 50 fattiest foods in the US and here to share some of those dishes is Amy O'Connor delivering the bad news for us today, right. Amy is the Editor In Chief of health.com. Good to have you here. Amy O'Connor: Thank you. Audra Lowe: I want to say good to have you here, but unfortunately you are bringing some bad news. For me in particular, feels like you guys followed me, a day in the life of Audra and then goes down all of the foods that I eat and told us why we can't have them. Let's start off with California, my home State, first thing you are doing is get off the plan on going In-N-Out. Amy O'Connor: Oh, absolutely. Audra Lowe: And now you're telling me, I need to just go - out now, don't even go there, why? Amy O'Connor: People and I like thing the In-N-Out Burger is so healthy, it is so fresh and you know these things are true, but here's the news. It has twice as much fat as a double cheeseburger from McDonald's. Audra Lowe: Seriously? Amy O'Connor: Yes. Audra Lowe: What if the whole thing is built on, you know you have got the lettuce, the cheese, it's so healthy for you and I had no idea. Amy O'Connor: Yeah, 41 grams of fat, you only needs to get about 35 a day, so if you have one, go ahead and have one, that's it for the day. The rest of it is brown rice and you have to do a lot of Pilates to workout that you know the burger. Audra Lowe: Okay I'm not happy about that, but let's go to Florida. Don't eat the empanadas and if you do, take it easy and that's because - Amy O'Connor: The empanadas are sneaky, they're kind of small, they are delicious, they don't seem like much, they're just these little pastries filled with meat or vegetables - Audra Lowe: They look harmless. Amy O'Connor: Yes, they are loaded with lard and they have a lot of fat, about 22 grams each and that's a lot. So if you're going to have one when you're -- with your cocktail whatever just you know, have one or two, that's it. Audra Lowe: Oh, okay. Even more depression, you go to Hawaii, you are thinking okay I am at tropical spot here, I'm gonna relax, loco moco, you say no, loco noco, right? Amy O'Connor: A very hung-over person invented this dish, it is so disgusting- you have to be loco to eat it, it's got hamburger patties, it's got eggs, its got rice, it's got fish, it's all piled on a plate, it's disgusting. Audra Lowe: But then how it was made as a comfort food, right? Amy O'Connor: Exactly. Audra Lowe: You were supposed intended for that, but - Amy O'Connor: I'm convinced with the hang-over too. Audra Lowe: You are not supposed to do it. Right, I was just in Chicago recently, one of the biggest things you to do in Chicago is eat the deep-dish pizza, that's what it is famous for. Amy O'Connor: This is what I grow up on. Audra Lowe: Yes, so now we know obviously, its pizza, its deep-dish, it can be that good for you, but how bad is it? Amy O'Connor: If you just have one piece, it's about 40 grams of fat. Audra Lowe: Okay. Amy O'Connor: So you should really try and stick to that. I always have like two or three. It's a very - you know the deep-dish pizza, it's got a lot of pastries in it, it's got a lot of cheese, its fattening. Audra Lowe: I am going to text this, corn dog; a corn dog is a big deal there. Amy O'Connor: Yeah. Audra Lowe: The huge deal, there is you are saying that you've got to be really carefully, you got to be really careful with the corn dogs. Amy O'Connor: Yeah, the corn dogs have about 20 grams of fat and they are really small, so again you are not going eat just one, Texas is the home of deep fried everything, so you just have to be careful. Audra Lowe: Okay, you and I can hang out because you could just go on th e holw thing alone. Thank you very much, still.
