Hi! I’m Mary Gallagher Stout. And today we’re making handcrafted gift boxes. Right now, I’m going to show you how to construct the lid. So get some acetate, we’re going to need our acetate to be 6x6 inch square which I have already cut here. And in order to create the lid you’re going to cut out two inch corners and all four corners with an X-Acto knife. You can either pre-measure them with a ruler, 2x2 or you can use a square ruler and a grid, it's up to you. When I’m drafting my two inch squares, I like to use a dry-erase marker because it's easy to wipe off when you are finished. So now, that we have finished cutting out our two inch squares on all four sides, we’re ready to assemble and put together the lid. We’re going to fold it in on itself, one edge, two edges and three and four. So this is the basic construction of the lid.
Now we’re going to take the bottom part and we’re going to fill it up with all of our goodies. So here are some candy and some lovely, yummy chocolate, minty candy and some wedding rings. And then we’re going to put the lid on top. Okay, we’ve got the lid inside. So now, our lid is on and we’re just going to seal the deal with some ribbon. I’ll start on the top, go to the bottom, criss-cross. I’m just going to tie a nice little pretty bow on your wedding favor or on your gift box. In this case, it’s a wedding favor. And voilà! Super special handmade gift box. When somebody receives one of your handmade boxes they’re going to feel so special. I had a lot of fun showing you this simple technique and I hope it brings you and your loved ones lots of joy, ciao!
