Hi, and welcome to another gimp tutorial. This will be just a quick one about basic mirror effect and basically, what we will do is we will use a modified version of the mirror effect. We learned about in the video called it the Basic 3D Text/Mirrored Text and this will also work on objects, images not just text
So, we open a new template, I will just stick to the default size, and it does not really matter here. And then, I open another image as a layer. In this case is a rose, I move it up here. And now, what we have to do is we duplicate this layer and do this by right clicking on the layer, select duplicate and then we move the duplicate right under the original, okay. We have to make sure that we select the right layer.
And then, we click on the layer tab and select transformation, horizontally. And so, the image goes upside down. There or we adjust the position a little bit. Okay and that should do it.
And next thing as we clicked on the rectangle tool and select the image, which we had just put down there, and then we activate the quick mask, the button on the left side here and make sure it is the inverted quick mask, then we select the gradient tool and choose foreground to transparent
And, we also want the gradient to be linear, their foreground to transparent. It is linear, it is okay. And now, we fill all selection with the gradient from top to bottom. Okay, deactivate the quick mask and to make the effect visible, we have to go to edit, delete and that is about it. Now, we have a simple mirror effect. I hope you like the tutorial and see you next time. Bye, bye.
