Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host Derrick Schommer. This week we’re going to cover the Flirtini.
This drink is, I’ve picked this drink because it’s great drink to use after new year’s so, although you might be getting this prior to new year’s, you’re probably going to be looking for something to do with all your extra champagne. Because if your anything like me, you have a party, people bring over a lot of champagne, they drink half the champagne and they leave it as a gift, but it builds.
So we are going to look at a way to get rid of this. And what we are going to do is we’re going to find ourselves some Pomegranate Vodka. You can get this thing anywhere. Any store should have it this is the Three Olives brand. We’re going to be using a Three Olives branded recipe. You can go to threeolive.com to get the recipe for yourself.
This is what a pomegranate looks like for those that might not have seen it, it looks like that outside, looks like this inside. Get all this great wonderful little seeds, you eat them, they pop in your mouth, taste like a super sweet seeded. It’s kind of like grenadine if you ever look at grenadine it’s a pomegranate juice. So we’re going to garnish it with three little pomegranate. This is hard to see, ah there it goes. Alright, I’ll get that back.
So let’s get started what we are going to do is we are going to start with the champagne base then we are going to add the vodka at the end. Take the cap off, wow sweet. Apparently this sucker is ready to roll. So let’s grab our one ounce measuring glass. We’re going to do 4 ounces of champagne. I picked extra dry because well that’s what I have in the house. So we’ll do 4 ounces of that right in here, sorry I’ll do this.
Now typically, you’d want to chill your martini glass. It just doesn’t happen to be something we can do here in front of the lights because it just gets warm real fast. So there’s our champagne.
We’re going to do one and a half ounces of pomegranate vodka infused one and this has been frozen so it’s nice and thick; add that to a frozen martini glass or cocktail glass and you are good to go. You do not have to stir it. It’s just going to, the bubbles actually help infuse it and stir it for you naturally so it’s naturally stirred, saved you a step.
And just for kicks, we are going to throw in three little pomegranate seeds. Do not do two, it’s rude. It’s a superstitious thing you do either one or three look at it they float right on the top and that’s cool.
So there you go. It looks crystal clear almost kind of golden, similar to a just a standard champagne, smells very pomegranate-ish if that’s a word. Let’s try it. Oh, that’s strong. If you’d like champagne; it’s totally worth a try.
If you’re not a champagne drinker, you can just move on. Check out all the rest of our videos. You can search us on iTunes in commonmancocktails.com or Common Man Cocktails sorry. And it’s a little dry which makes sense because we picked the extra dry it was the first thing we found in our refrigerator for instance which you had on hand.
Let’s just try it again. It’s start with the pomegranate taste probably because the vodka is stirring around there. It ends with the dry champagne flavor a little carbonation, a little bite, a little sour you get the sweet kind of makes up for it. And if you just let those little pomegranate seeds float in there you’re going to have a great desert when you’re down with your drink.
This is what we’ll call the Flirtini. Put it in the martini glass. Serve it to all your friends and family after the holidays. A few one more try, definitely a nice classy drink.
I’m your host Derrick Schommer and we’re teaching you how to drink.
