Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I’m your host Derrick Schommer and the issue we’re going to cover grass skirt. We’re going to cover the grass skirt, yeah the drink is called the grass skirts. My grass, I’m thinking because it’s got gin which is kind of a pine, kind of forest like, kind of like grasses on the bottle and the forest, that’s what I’m thinking to get the name. So, we’re going to use some brave spirits gin. You go to bravespirits.com and you can see where they allow you. When you buy this, you donate $2.00 to the man and woman of the Armed Forces, suites, police, firefighters, people that save us. We’re going to use Cointreau, a very little, just a teaspoon of grenadine and some pineapple juice. That’s really only goes into this and I’m going to garnish it with a maraschino cherry juice because I think, it looks pretty cool like of kind of a radical look to it and its cocktail going our cocktail glass. Let’s get started. Move this out the way. Move that all the way. Get our ice ready. All right let’s start.
We’re going to gin because it has the most if your dig in the gin, this is a must try of course because people on everydaydrinkers.tv keep doing, starts this for gin recipes. I don’t have that many, I'm growing the library and we’re starting right now. So, we’re going to one and a half ounces of gin, which is quite a lot when you consider there’s not much going into this recipes, so its going to be highly gin base and I’ve said on the show, I’m not a big fan of gin myself. The reason why, there’s not a lot of recipes. This is actually one of the best gins I had because it doesn’t taste like pines or cleaner and this drink is not going to be—believe it or not that apparent. We’re going to do one ounce of Cointreau.
So far we’ve kept it pretty clear right, it’s pretty good right. One ounce of pineapple juice, there we go. We’ve got a little yellow going on and this is where that all changes. We’re going to do with teaspoon and since I don’t have a teaspoon, I’m going to use two this old guys here. It’s kind of like tea. Extremely, sticky stuff but that’s okay its tasty. So, there you go. Kind of looks right now like a tequila sunrises with me but digress. Simple, shake and pour and just like many cocktails are. Got to seal, go for it. It gets water.
Now, this might be a drink you want to give to the wife, the significant other of the female persuasion. As it has a little pink thing going on, I guess you could drink it if you want just—you know you secure with yourself and it’s kind of a pink. My kind I mean, not as pink because you really get for something pink. Show ourselves a little cherry in there so it’s not so pink it got some red. Oh, it smells good.
So that’s the grass skirt. Not really grassy really, it’s kind of pink but it doesn’t smell like grassy so you’re safe there. This drink has a everything going on. You taste it all. It’s like a tour in Italy style of thing. It’s just everything all hits your mouth that once. It’s almost has a coconut tropical, pineapple thing going on. I don’t really taste the gin and like I said, I’m not huge in the gin so, it hides really well. The grenadine, very little sweet not sour, this is not a sour drink. So, if you’re into sour cocktails pass, the Cointreau—I don’t know. It’s like its all happening at one step. It doesn’t really know single element stands out but you can taste them all but definitely it seems like a Polynesian style drink. I guess, grass skirts they wear those in Hawaii maybe. I’ve never want a grass skirt but if I did I would be in Hawaii. I’d like to be in Hawaii anyway.
There you go, pretty, highly suggest this for Valentines Day coming up soon. Looks like a good Valentines Day gift you know. There you go, that’s the grass skirt. Check this out in iTunes.
