The History of NBA Finals

The firs t best of seven championship series was played in 1947, it was the basketball association of America, however in 1949, the lead merge with the national basketball league to eventually come out of the national basketball association as we know it today. Every year since 1947, the NBA finals has been played. While the NBA has played around with when home and away James Archer during the championship series, traditionally the team with a better 82 game record during the regular season is given home court advantage in the finals. Similar to the world series and major league baseball, the championship is considered a world championship implying that no other team in the world would be able to compete. The championship trophy of the NBA was created in 1977 and in 1984, it was named after the late commissioner Larry O’Brien. The winning team gets a trophy every year that they got to keep. It is made of 16 pounds of sterling silver with a 24 karat gold overlay. Tiffany and company creates the trophy every year.
