Resembling the story structure from the original Terminator movie, T 2 Judgment Day follows a new advanced cyborg who’s on a mission this time to kill a young John Connor.
Hey, welcome to watchmojo.com. I’m your host Derrick Allen and today we’ll be taking a closer look at the plot for Terminator II Judgment Day.
In the years that followed the original terminators attack on Sarah Connor, Sarah would desperately try to prepare her young son first future as leader of the resistance and warn the world of the judgment day planned for 1997 when the machines would launch their assault on mankind. After tempting to bomb a computer factory, Sarah would be deemed criminally insane and institutionalized leaving John in the care of foster parents. After failing to prevent John Connor’s birth in 1984, Skynet would send in 1995 the T-1000, an advanced terminator model. However, the John Connor of 2029 would once again send a protector. This time instead of sending a soldier, John Connor would reprogram a terminator cyborg to a obey and protect his younger self.
“My mission is to protect you.” “Yeah. Who sent you?” “You did, 35 years from now, you reprogramed me to be your protector here in this time.”
Even though the original terminator had been destroyed, the one sent back by John was the same model and identical to the one Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor had destroyed 11 years earlier. The T-1000 model was built of a polly-alloy which made it capable of mimicking whoever or whatever it touched. Afraid of the T-1000, it would kill and then impersonate as some other trick him. The young John ordered the terminator to bring his mother out of prison. Initially afraid of the terminator because of its appearance to the model that tried to kill her, Sarah accepted the reprogrammed terminators help. The terminator, Sarah, and the young John go on to find the Cyberdyne Systems engineer who is using technology found in the pieces of the destroyed terminator from 11 years prior to creat a new microprocessor that unbeknown to him would become the basis for Skynet. After warning him of the implications of his research, the group goes to Cyberdyne System’s headquarters to destroy all of his research. Confronted by the police, the Cyberdyne engineer would sacrifice himself in order to destroy his research for the great good of humanity. After fleeing the scene, a battle between the terminators would take place where upon the T-1000 would stop the terminator with a metal poll deactivating him. However, using an interior thermal generator, the terminator was able to soon after reactivate himself. Blast in the T-1000—the terminator successfully destroys its superior model knocking it into the molten steel below. Concern that if someone would have find the pieces of either terminator models they could use them to create Skynet. Sarah is convinced by the terminator that it also needs to be destroyed and she lowers him into the molten steel as well.
Even it was 7 years passed between the original terminator and T 2 Judgment Day would prove to be a massive blockbuster hit earning over $500 million worldwide. Despite the tremendous praise however, it would take Hollywood another 12 years before it release Terminator III Rise of the Machines.
