The Importance of Tennis Footwork

Will Hamilton: Foot work is arguably the most important part of tennis. You can have the prettiest strokes on the planet, but it doesn't really matter, if you can't move out to the tennis ball set up and then use those pretty strokes. If you can't move it'll be too close to the ball sometimes too far away, maybe the ball be too low, too high, you won't be set up effectively to have the correct mechanics when you hit. Now, when you play tennis, there is a specific way you move for pretty much every single situation.

If you're moving out to hit the tennis ball, you're going to move in a specific way. If you're recovering back to the middle of court, you're also going to move in a specific yet different way. There is the fine foot work for each scenario and you're going to rotate depending on what you're trying to do and you rotate between how you move. In this section, we focused on those particulars of the foot work, the way we've designed the section we're going to start with moving out to the tennis ball getting set up and then finally recovering back to the middle, so you can repeat the process.
