A Gilded Age for Science.
It seems that we are in a good age of science; I mean I think actually many respects science history well right now. But I think of this as a general fear that will not continue that people want, taken seriously that if there is a budget cuts that is where it will happen.
I think it is really important that we recognize the really important role that science played. Not just that people doing science, but people being trained as scientists. A lot of people who had gone out and done important things have forte into scientist. I am only surprised whenever people they tell me that they were actually--a lot of people who read my book for example, you know will be in different fields. And there will be people who are not doing anything like science now, but they were trained as scientists. And I think we really have to appreciate how critical that is.
I think how important basic research is, not just applied research, but people really work in fundamental premise, being allowed to think about that and how basic research has had this broad ranging implications in the future that we have to anticipate.
So, I think a general recognition of the role that science has played would be really important, perhaps right now.
