Bill Parravano: Hello! And welcome to Knee Pain Guru, Knee Pain Questions Answered. I received an email here from Bob. It says, hi, Bill. I have little or no cartilage in my left knee. The doctor gave me a series of five injections. The injections contained no medicine. They contained egg shells, oils etcetera. That was about a year ago. The injections worked and are still working. He would like to do a partial knee surgery when it squares out. The right knee is only slightly better. Thanks Bob.
Well Bob, thank you for your email. That's great to hear that the injections that doctors gave you are working, especially if it's not a medications. Egg shells and oil, I am not familiar with that. However, I think that's great that it is working; however, one of the things that I am a little discouraged on is, the mainstream medicines approach which is that of damage control. It's like there is this well, we'll just see how things go and eventually you're going to have, to have knee replacements and for me that doesn't settle all that well. I think there are lot of things we can do to empower ourselves, to understand what's going on in our knees, to prevent what's happening.
And I think it's just through understanding and realizing how the body functions and how the body works. And it's very much like a vehicle, it's very much like a car that you're driving. You need to do maintenance on it, you need to check the oil, you need to put fuel in the tank, you need to fill up windshield wiper fluid, and the break fluid, and the steering fluid and everything.
And the body is the very same way and what ends up happening is we get into this pattern where we don't have any options. And I like having lots of options and I feel that through five key components, through increasing water intake, through having a better diet, through nutrition, through proper exercise, exercise meaning not just doing lots of reps and lots of sets and doing lots of weight that you specifically strengthen the tendons and ligaments within the knee joint itself.
Proper stretching which is number 4, which is dynamic stretching. So, it's practical for you life. When you're getting up and out of a car, it's not linear. So, the stretching means to reflect that, so you feel normal with your knees, as well as, breathing. And what a huge role breathing plays in how much tension we feel in our knees and how that affects that pain in our knees by stopping our breathing.
So, those are five key components. Water, nutrition, exercise, stretching, and breathing. And I'm actually in the process of putting together a program specifically for individuals, who still have knee pain after they have had knee surgery. Now, this doesn't rule out that this couldn't help people who haven't had knee surgery; however specifically for those who have had knee surgery and are still in pain.
Now, there is still an option. I have written a book that has a video series that goes along with it. You can access that on my website, TheKneePainGuru.com and that goes into mainly the strengthening piece. Strengthening the knee joint itself. The tendons and ligaments within the joint. You can go to my website and you can access both the videos, as well as, the eBook. And you have a package on there that is available right now.
So, Bob hopefully that gives you a better perspective on what's going on with your knees giving you, if you zoom out a little bit and get a broader perspective or broader understanding then I believe that the partial knee replacement maybe, you have other options other than that. So, if you have other questions, if that did not answer your question, please feel free to send me an email at Bill@TheKneePainGuru.com and I will be in touch soon, thanks a lot. Bye-bye.
