Hello! And welcome to your Knee Pain Questions Answered Session 12. I have a question here from Vicky who says in May 2007 I had to have my leg broken in reset and have a lateral release at the same time. I'm not exactly sure what a lateral release is. However, Vicky if you could follow up on this, that would be great. I now have a plate in my leg close to my kneecap and my kneecap is yet again moved. I'm in a lot of pain with my knee giving away a lot -- causing even more knee pain and what can I do to control the pain?
I'm on a lot of medication, but that cannot control the knee giving away and my kneecap clicking. The pain keeps me awake at night and it has been 14 years now and I'm sick of hospitals and doctors who would not listen to me. Please can you suggest something? Kind regards, Vicky.
Vicky, I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at the irony of your comments here and I believe it's really important to be listened to, especially when you're experiencing severe knee pain. There are a couple of things I can suggest as far as what you're experiencing with your knee pain. One is to increase your water intake. A huge piece that goes into the pain that you're experience in your knee, and your knee tenses up as a result of the injury, which is causing dehydration in the joint itself. There's tension in there. You can imagine when you squeeze your fist real tight, the knuckles get white and that's, because there's not enough blood that's able to get into the knuckle as a result of the tension that you're creating about the fist.
The same thing happens on an involuntary level in your knee meaning you can't control it. So when you have lots of tension going on as a result of pain, it's more difficult to get water into the knee joint to be able to flush out the toxins that built up as a result of what's going out from the trauma, from the surgery, the injury, the knee dislocation, the knee giving away and things such as that. So increasing your water intake will help with your body's ability to heal what's going on in your knee.
The second piece is a homeopathic that I've used for a number of years. It's called Traumeel. It comes both in a topical meaning it's like a gel or a cream that you put on top of the knee as well as a sublingual tablet meaning the tablet you put underneath your tongue and let it dissolve. The topical homeopathic traumeel comes in a tube, it kind of looks like a short tube of tooth paste that you put a lot on your knee, especially where it hurts and just let it sit there and you can massage that into the knee as well, especially where that hurts.
So that is good topically for what's going on with your knee and the Traumeel sublingual tablets, they're homeopathic so it's very important that you can't touch these with your fingers. You can do a Google search on homeopathic and read a little bit more on that. However, I've used them with lots of success with a lot of my own injuries, especially with my knees and that you have a cap, it's a little bottle and you shake that the tablets out into the cap. I believe you use two at a time you, put underneath your tongue and you let them dissolve. That has been extremely helpful for me getting over and dealing with the pain, tensions, swelling, and discomfort that was going on in my knee.
So hopefully that's going to help you with your pain that you're experiencing. I would also have you go to my website and get a copy of my e-book, Stop Your Knee Pain Now, because it has exercises specifically designed to strengthen the tendons in the ligaments within your knee and that's what happens when your knee gives away. The knee gives away, because the joint is weak and the joint is weak, because the tendons and ligaments within the joint are not holding the joint and supporting the joint together properly.
So, Vicky hopefully that will help you with the questions you have. If not, please email me back at bill@thekneepainguru.com and I would be more happy to give a more complete answer for that. As well as if anyone else has questions, you're welcome to send them those to me as well. Anyhow, that is the end of Session 12 and we will see you next time. Thank you so much. Bye-bye!
