My wife and I did not do much to this house for the last ten years except for replacing the appliances when we first moved in and then replacing hardware on the cabinets. We have been consulting with the fabricator for the counter tops, we decided to extend the counter tops from its previous position all the way to the door that leads to the deck – almost doubling our counter top space.
We used a high definition laminate pattern from Wilsonart that is called night passage and then we chose Mystique gemstone, another high definition pattern for the isle end both with the beveled edge. And we decided to have the backsplash laminated with Wilsonart’s Graphite Nebula.
Jeff at Hoffman’s Cabinets and Countertops was able to turn the job at around a week.

Certainly, we decided to get rid of the old drawer fronts and cabinet fronts on the cabinets and some cabinets that took a lot longer than we thought but again Jeff Hoffman did a great job with that. So, before we knew it, I was on the phone to the gas company to help him disconnect the gas line and I found myself under the sink, disconnecting all the plumbing. And of course, I had hope the sink would pop out of the old openings, I could reuse it but that did not really worked out the way I planned. We basically had to buy a new sink which is a new granite polymer construction and actually looks really nice.
The installation of the new sink allowed us to install a hot water dispenser as well. Not the easiest thing in the world to install but it did work well once it was installed and my wife loves it for making tea and coffee and soup. I would recommend doing this before you put the sink in. It is a lot easier.
Well, I must say, after all the issues we had, and it really was not that bad. We are really enjoying our kitchen. The expanded counter space is wonderful. We are really enjoying those new cabinets with the new door faces and the hardware looks great. We are just getting a little anxious about putting our flooring but that is going to come along pretty soon. So, I would definitely recommend the remodeling job like this. Just keep your budget in mind and know what you want before you start and you should be good to go.
