Ford's upscale Lincoln division presents the MKR concept. The 415 horsepower rare driven coupe showcases all seven exterior design cues and characteristics that Lincoln aims to cooperate fully or partially in its future vehicles:
1. A clean uncluttered body surface
2. Powerful dynamic beltline
3. A grooved surface parallel to the beltline
4. A twin port, bow-wave, front grille based on the 1941 Continental Cabriolet
5. Thin horizontal headlamps
6. A substantial C-pillar that smoothly blends into the roof
7. A pronounced roof rail
Ford engineered the MKR using the twin turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that runs on E85 ethanol fuel and generates 400 pound-feet of torque. The Twin Force turbo-charged version of this motor is more likely to make it to production. The vehicle runs on 21-inch chrome wheels displaying the trademark Lincoln star and the glass roof is propped by structural elements that make the style logo too.
The four-door, four-seat concept has a long sloping console made of recycled wood. Interior features include ice blue instrument lighting, which eliminates the gauges, mohair carpets and cashmere-covered soy-foam seats.
The car offers almost 37 inches of rear headroom. The low roof gives off a sporty appearance while the sleek handle-free chrome doors look sophisticated. Trunk space measures 13 cubic feet.
The double-throwdown chrome treatments and other fancy show car features are unlikely to make it to production. But Lincoln MKR captures the bold, modern image, foresees in its future.
