Now that you have got video on your timeline, you are probably ready to add music or sound effects. In order to do that, you simply go to file, import in to collections and then browse your file, mine is in my documents.
Now, one thing to note is that Windows Movie Maker accepts MP3 files however, in my experience, the application has crashed ever time I tried to use an MP3. So, if you have the same problem, you can convert your MP3 into a different format. There are instructions for doing that below. So I import my file and this is going to process ad it appears here on the workspace and I just drag and drop it onto the timeline. Now, you may need to stretch the timeline up in order to see all the tracks, my audio is right here and I can manipulate this audio just the same as I can in videos. So I can drag it around, I can click up here on the timeline and use clip split to break the audio track into 2 pieces. I can shave the front or the back of a track by clicking on it and using those red arrows and if I decided that I want to change the sound level on a clip, all I need to do is right click the clip and this gives me access to the controls for the individual clips so I can change the volume, fade it out, fade it in or mute the entire thing.
Those are pretty much all the basics to audio in Windows Movie Maker so you can move on to the next section whenever you are ready.
