Big Think is a global forum connecting people and ideas. It may be a cliché to say that knowledge is power, but that doesn’t make the statement any less true. We know that there are just 24 hours in a day, that you are bombarded with information, and that the bombardment will only escalate. We believe that not all information is equal. We believe that expertise is invaluable and should be shared. If you had a heart problem and could afford the counsel of the world’s leading cardiologists, you would seek their advice. If you owned a business and wanted to expand into China or Russia, you’d want to hear from people who had already done that. At Big Think, we put you in contact with the ideas of very smart people. We do not believe that experts have all the answers. On many subjects deep thinkers disagree. We do believe that we will all make better decisions in our personal and professional lives if our thinking is informed by expert opinion.

The status of Dhimmi in Islam is a form of apartheid.

Everyone is equal? Really? I'd love to see the Dalia Mogahed tell that to any woman who has faced a man in Sharia Court, where her testimony is worth HALF of his, whether the court be in Saudi or Great Britain. Because although the prophet gave women unprecedented rights in the 7th Century, those same rights do not even come close to holding up to today's standards. And how about gays? Do gays have equality in Islam, Dalia Mogahed? Funny thing, in context of the time and place, yes, Mohammad was not such a bad conquerer. The slaughter he incurred on the Banu Qurayza wasn't any worse than a slaughter committed by Chingis Khan. But prophet of peace AND tolerance? Hardly.
