Genesis 49:10 tells us "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh (peace) comes and to Him shall be the obedience of the people." This prediction obviously means that there would be a ruling body from the tribe of Judah until the Messiah came. The scepter passed to Judah when David took the throne. In the year 6 A.D. the Roman government took the right to capital punishment away from Israel. Many Rabbis put on sackcloth and went mourning through the streets because they thought God's Word had failed. They no longer had the authority of the law and the Messiah had not come to their knowledge. They nderstood the prediction but did not know of the birth of The Messiah. In the year 70 A.D. the scepter was actually taken and there was no longer a lawgiver. The obvious conclusion is that the Messiah must have come by then or God's Word had indeed failed. Can God's Word fail? Or is He a liar? The answer, I pray, should be obvious to you.
