Leila: Welcome to watchmojo.com I’m your host Leila. Today I find that more about with the North America’s oldest lesbian and gay Film Festivals.
I could tell he was into me but hadn’t realized yet that I was straight. I’m not sure why, but I didn’t want to tell him yet.
Katherine Setzer: Our festival is mostly about really, really good film where catering to our center our audience we want to show the best film that in our issues I do deal with like LGBT realities and ways events so forth. But I deal with larger or more global issues human rights; issues about family about you know how one finds their identity, how one finds by place in the world. So, it they’re all really trendy universal ideas that are in the films.
I was glad not to be alone and talking to myself anymore.
Leila: What would you like to accomplish with this festival?
Katherine Setzer: We have had quite a lot of accomplish already, we are the oldest LGBT festival in Canada and the largest. I think with that comes some successes but also some challenges in the sense that we search a feel that we have a transiting rule so, we want to show the most challenging and compelling and entertaining of course films that we can.
Leila: And what have been some your responsibilities?
Katherine Setzer: Well, we have to focus on youth, our responsibilities is to give positive or even realistic representation of what it means to grow up queer in the world. I guess we have the mandate to present as much really, great Canadian work but also at the same time show as much international work.
Leila: There is a final to select the films or they nominated, how this work?
Katherine Setzer: It’s a few teared, we have a call for submissions. Actually this here we have like 450 submissions but we took a lot of time to that so we have those submissions that we look through and as well we also travel to other festival around North America and Europe to see the works that they have playing on those.
Leila: Congratulations.
Katherine Setzer: Thank you.
Leila: 20th anniversary and thank you very much for your time.
Katherine Setzer: You're welcome and thank you.
