Jason: Hi there, it’s Jason here once again from McInTEC Communications and Technology, and today on the show we have CM and Life Justice 2007. Hello, CM and Life Justice, welcome to the show again. Thanks for being with us.
Life Justice 2007: Good evening.
CM: Hello.
Jason: Yes, how you guys doing?
CM: Wonderful.
Jason: That’s good. Alright now, what we’re going to do tonight is that within the next minute or so we’re just going to talk about the new UStream Codec and Interface that was just released earlier today, and I just like Life to explain what he thinks about the new interface in Codec, so Life if you’d like to explain to everybody who is watching what you think of the new UStream.
Life Justice 2007: Sure?
Jason: Go ahead.
Life Justice 2007: Well, I sort of noticed that when I went to Chris Pirillo’s UStream site today or I was in the chat room for a while, and I look at the UStream thing and the first thing I notice is the buttons were different, and there were few different new options that interface change a lot.
The graphics also look a lot clear. It looks like they’ve got a detailing encoder. I guess you’d say, but to the point where it’s so detailed that when you full screen the picture pixilates, to the point where you can see the squares that make up the pixels. I think that they are coming along way. It looks like they are doing a lot of work in this site, and I wouldn’t really take this too seriously yet. It looks like it’s a Alpha or Beta maybe of a new project of what UStream should like in 2008.
It seems faster, there’s a new feature for buffering. I’ve noticed and personally when doing things like we’re doing right now, Ventrilo. It’s best to leave the buffer alone because then you have to wait five seconds for everything to catch up, but other than that it seems like things are starting to get better, but they still needs a lot of work.
Jason: Yes, and I have to say what the buffering allows you to do is it basically, it grabs it so the higher the buffer there will actually be a longer delay, but I actually found having the highest buffer actually makes it smoother.
Now, there’s a few things that I’ve notice to have you know been missing from the UStream, the broadcasting constellate is totally different. It got a different look. You use to be able to have frames per second.
Life Justice 2007: And also an attempt to make another point tip.
Jason: Yes, there used to be a frame per second where you can actually select how many frames per second do you wanted to have it run out. I usually run about 15 to 18 occasionally, 11 which is good.
There’s a few things missing for the audio one is that it is used to be on to the highest audio output called it was that 44kilohertz which is very, very phenomenal, and now it’s only at 22 kilohertz which if you listen you can’t hear a difference, and I wish they have kept the 44 back.
It’s got a different look on it. I kind of miss the old one, the old one is kind of smaller then when you switch it’s big, and now it’s kind of this big, but I have to say there we does save on bandwidth. When I’m in Ventrilo when I stream my pings will use about 200 or more milliseconds that’s my ping rate which is delayed when I’m streaming.
When I’m not in stream my ping rate is 14 an average, so it’s more instantaneous now, that I’m streaming with this new Codec like most people on UStream should be these days is the fact that actually it doesn’t use much bandwidth and I think that’s why when you make a full screen it pixels more, there’s more pixels because maybe the Codec isn’t this clear, but Life Justice 2007 is probably right about the Beta testing.
Now, that I’m streaming with this new system with UStream, my pings in Ventrilo for the delay and late I didn’t see is about an average of 32 which is very, very phenomenal. I think it is excellent, a very great thing I mean, you know less of the delay.
Life Justice 2007: Don’t forget to mention the shout box.
Jason: Oh yeah, the shout box which—
Life Justice 2007: Once you’ve turn it on you can’t turn off.
Jason: Yeah, and I guess Life Justice will explain more about that in a minute, but UStream Interface has different look, and I have to say that actually in this categories when you first go to UStream page, it allowed too actually a pair and partners with other people. You can put there up to five separate UStream streams right on your page on the UStream page you are able to—
There’s a group at the bottom like there’s tech, religious all favorites UStream pics and stuff, and it actually makes it easier to narrow it out, so if you go click tech these are the people that are on the tech category, and it’s actually like a tech thing and if you click on the tech thing you go to a tech page where you have like an actual master tech UStream are each chatting for all the tech and stuff whether people use them or not, and all of the latest tech videos and top tech videos and tech people videos and religious videos and all these now.
So, Life Justice just wants to label few more things, so I’m just going to let him talk to you a little bit more about some of the changes.
Life Justice 2007: I just want to mention about the shelf box. When you click on the shelf box in the old UStream player, you had the option that if you click that button again for it to disappear. Now, if you click that shelf box, it’s going to stay on the right side of the screen and so you refresh, refresh the page pretty much.
Jason: Now, I have to say—
Life Justice 2007: Which could probably it gets annoying.
Jason: Well, I have to say that the thing is this, I kind of miss the old one but I kind of like the new and it’s a mixed and match, and I think UStream should have once where you know, the way of allowing certain people to test this new stuff out and stuff.
I know that the Keytech widgets from keycomputerzone.ca. He did some widgets for UStream and stuff that actually messed it up. His got to redo them I don’t know if that’s a big thing or not. It takes a long time, but it’s kind of a shock.
I went on UStream today and I loaded up in the UStream Beta is different and everything is different, the broadcasting was different. It’s still works it works for a bit then you know, it’s good to have you know, but by January as told to have a new Codec and things are probably be better, but they should have a Beta testing section where people like they will notice if they are interested and looking at the new Codec or the new broadcasting section and stuff. You don’t click here and be part of it, let us know.
It was kind of shock to all of us. I think you know there’s pros and cons that we just talked about you know, pros being less band with usage which is excellent, cons being you know, so video call this huge. You know, a few things here that are out, window is bigger.
So, that’s basically what we want to say, so you know it’s a 50-50 thing. I’m happy with it 50% and I’m wrong with it, so yeah, do you have to say CM before we wrapped up?
CM: Well yeah, I agree with Life I mean, it still is Beta, but I think it’s going to turn to something good. I mean, like you can hit the little bubble and that opens to your chat room you know, you can shell you know, I like the smaller bar that I did with the bigger bar at the bottom where it says, “All flying.”
I agree, I think there should be a Beta section and I also think there should be a way to where you can flip back and forth, new view old view or you know, if you don’t like the new.
And I agree, I see when you were up against the screen while ago I could see the little box as you know you were pixilated and stuff like you said give it a time you know, it will get better eventually.
Jason: And yeah, and there you have it. There are some views from other guest and people that are regularly on our show and stuff, and that’s what we want to do. UStream is good. I also use it it’s free, so you know, it’s excellent.
So, if you have any questions, feel free to email us questions@McInTec.net, Mcintec it’s pronounce McInTec someone says Mc and Tech. Well, whatever right?
We are also if you go to live.mcintec.net, we have our live page McInTec.net as well you know, it’s all link together. So, thanks for joining our show and thanks to CM and Life Justice 2007 for being on the show once again, and I am Jason M or McIntyre maybe you’d like to say and you know, thanks for watching another one of our videos and we’ll chat at you later.
