Ladies have been writing me, asking me “Steve, please tell me how many calories I should be eating throughout the day? “ Well, let me see if I can give you any answers.
First thing that you have to look at is your BMR o your Basic Metabolic Rate. This is the numbers of calories that you need to take in throughout the day, just to lye in bed and survive. For the average woman, that is about 800 calories. Next thing that you got to look at is your resting metabolic rate. Your arm, that is a little bit higher. That is the number of calories that you need to take in throughout the day simply just sitting in the chair, read book and think. That is about 900 calories for the average woman.
To this we can add about 200 calories a day for movement walking, showering, moving around the office and so and so forth. So now, we are at about eleven hundred calories. To that we can add another hundred calories a day for digestions.
Yes, you burn calories when you digest food. So, what about twelve hundred calories a day. So, the average woman should be taking in about 1200 calories a day. After that, she needs to take a look at her daily activities about the normal norm. Workouts, cardio, aerobics and so on and so forth and then adjust her eating accordingly, base on whether she wants to loose, gain or maintain her weight.
A lady emails me. “Hey Steve, how the five, three of a 118 pounds of what eight miles a day should might resting the metabolic rate behind. Should that be burning 1500 calories a day simply doing nothing?” And I said, my email have actually you kind of have this wrong like most people, as you get in better, better shape, you are resting the metabolic rate, goes down. Essentially, your body is running more efficiently. So, just sit around and do nothing you need fewer calories. But do not despair, when you get up and you exercise then your metabolism increases greatly. Much greater than somebody who is out of shape”.
So, you learn a few things today. Base on metabolic rate, resting metabolic rate. The average woman needs about 1200 calories a day to survive and your metabolism actually goes down when you are in great shape, it does not really go up. Love your body. I will see you next time.
