Hi welcome to watchmojo.com, I'm your host Derek Allen and today we’ll be exploring the history of Magneto.
As with all comic book characters, there are often re-imaginations in different versions to a character’s past, we have chosen to follow the storyline, which infolded in classic X-Men number 12. Magneto witnessed his parents’ death at the hand of Nazis as a young boy. And was subsequently sent to the Auschwitz Concentration Camp.
Calling himself Magnus, still unaware of his powers, it was in the camp where he also met Magda, the woman he would go on to marry. It was another tragedy in his life, where Magnus’ powerful abilities first manifested. After being obstructed by a mob of people to help save his young daughter from a burning building, Magnus’ powers were unleashed against his will and the mob was killed. In the years to follow, Magnus would learn to control his ability, his primary power is his ability to control magnetism, as well as use magnetic force fields for protection. After learning of these powers, Magnus’ wife Magda left her husband and months later learned that she was pregnant with twins. They would develop super powers of their own and gone to become Scarlet Witch and Quick Silver. Sometime later, Magnus became close with Charles Xavier. After the pair revealed their powers to each other, they soon learned their views on human mutant relations where starkly different. And the two parted ways.
Fearing another holocaust, this time against mutants, Magnus took a stand against humanity, with the belief that mutants would eventually be the dominant life form on the planet. Now calling himself Magneto, Magnus found as a group called the Brotherhood of Mutants, which would be renamed the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants by the media.
