The Piano History

[Demonstration] The term Piano in Italian means ‘soft’ and Forte means ‘loud’ in Italian. So, when you put the two halves together Piano and Forte it means an instrument capable of making soft and loud sounds. In fact, many years ago the piano forte was called the ‘forte piano’. So in order to distinguish the modern instrument nowadays from the older instruments, we have the piano and the forte piano.
