Megan: My name is Megan from San Diego, California. Does birth control pills affect my mood and sex drive? If so, what can I do about it? Shona Murray: Megan this is very, very common concern for people in birth control pills. Overall the newer birth control pills have a very little dose of hormones and people overall don't have much effect in their mood or the sex drive. However, some women are particularly sensitive and for these women some times going on a lower dose birth control pill can be helpful, or just trying different birth control pills to find the one that works best for them. The occasional person just continues to have bad, bad side effect, and then an alternative form of contraception maybe recommended.
