Jessie: Be valuable as technology changes Hustlers try to stay one step ahead and take advantage of this.
Male 1: Everyday there is a new gadget or gizmo on the high street. There keeping up with technology can cost a fortune. Whether its for counterfeiting or forging fake IDs, Hustlers need that computers to have the latest software. But of course, they do not intend to pay for it.
Jessie is planning to walk into this high street computer store and download some valuable software for free. This is the software steal.
Jess prepares by placing a portable hard drive into customize pouch which is then attached to herself. The hard drive cost less than a hundred pounds and will easily pay for it self. She runs a cable down her arm and puts a jacket on with the USB lead discretely coming out of her sleeve. All ready to attach to a computer of her choice.
She is about to walk in to a busy high street store and leave with thousands of pounds with a computer programs for absolutely nothing.
She browses around and chooses a computer with the most desirable software on it. Making sure that busy Sales Assistant can not see what she is up to just quickly gets to work. She attaches the drive and selects the files she wants to pinch from the computer.
This kind of installed computers hold all the latest multimedia packages, ready to demonstrate to legitimate customers. That worth big money and within minutes, Jess is down loaded them all.
She goes from computer to computer copying all the latest must haves with just a click of a mouse. It takes several minutes for the software to transfer and just constantly check that she is not being watched. But her crime goes undetected by the busy Sales Assistants and Security.
As she leaves the store, it looks like she is decided not to buy anything. Well in fact, she has taken thousands of pounds with there products all store up to her sleeve on her portable hard drive.
Jessie: This is how Hustlers steal software. Take the hard drive, just plug it in to the computer here and then, after a few seconds, it should appear on the desktop and you go into applications then there is all the software that I can then copy. So, I pick the one I want. Then now, I simply do is drag and drop into the hard drive. There you go! All the informations is yours.
Marc : The most common with this is somebody walking into a business and maybe taking an account stays to buy so, taking for fraction information and copying it. The idea now but people can walk around with tiny little devices which can store hundreds and hundreds of pages of data.
In fact hundreds of thousands of pages of data is quite a scary concept from us businesses because all it means is one unguarded machine maybe 5minutes access and somebody is copied all of your most important data into systems and they are walking out with it.
The most easy protection that your typical computer store could put into place is a password its been save. That means a customer can not unattended walk up plug and do something with the computer because the have to remove the password in order to do with it.
Male 1: In this case, we use technology to steal software from a store but think of it the kind of information you have on your computer at home, the kind of thing you would not want other people to have.
You should also consider the information that might be stored on a work computer. The kind of thing that competitor should not have.
So, when you consider that something is small as a cigarette pack or even a matchbox might be use to store information or even mirror an entire hard drive. You have to be very careful that who you let near your devices.
