A study from the RAND corporation shows that drivers between the ages of 15 to 24 are 3 times more likely to cause a car crash than those who are 65 or older. Despite making up to 15% of the population, seniors accounted for only 7% of crashes.
From Maryland, the FDA is warning consumers not to eat certain brands of canned chili sauce because of the risk botulism, a potentially fatal condition. A couple in Indiana and two children in Texas are seriously ill in hospital after eating affected products. The warning includes a number of sauces made by Castleberry's.
From London, those on the weight loss drug, Acomplia, should monitor for symptoms of depression. The EMEA, the European equivalent of the FDA is recommending stronger wording on the product label warning of potential psychiatric side effects including suicide. They recommend not taking the drug if you are on antidepressants.
And finally also from the UK, tennis players beware; serious low back injuries are a problem in elite tennis players. Researchers noted problems on the MRIs of over 85% of the players.
